REEF PATTERN AN OBJECT BY CITA & MAPT

At ClubClash Charlottenborg Wednesday 3 June from 22-04
At Final Party Saturday 6 June from 22-05

Our world is neither flat nor square - why are our spaces? Use mind, hands
and craft to shape our world in fluid ways. Following the force of things.

Reef Pattern builds a roof above us through which sounds and light flows.
Following natural patterns of growth and aggregation, Reef Pattern finds its
structural performance through deep curves and creases. Reef Pattern
explores how material performance can be harvested in new ways. Made in this
sheet the structure imagines another architecture outside the rational and
the optimised.

Reef pattern is a collaboration between CITA (The Centre for IT and
Architecture at Denmark’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of
Architecture) and Copenhagen architects MAPT. The research on developable
surfaces in steel was kindly supported by Dreyer Fonden and Kunstfonden and
wouldn’t have been possible without our friends in steelmaking at
BeyerTechnik from Ishøj. Party on Preben.
